Magnitude 7.1 Earthquake Hits Indonesia and Causing People to Panic for Tsunami Alert

A tsunami alert was announced in Eastern Indonesia, Maluku Island after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. Causing thousands of people to panic and leave their homes. There were no major damage and casualties reported. Only a small waves was generated and detected in several parts of archipelago. The tsunami alert was lifted in a while.

Who would forget the great tsunami in Japan causing 15,889 deaths, 6,152 injured, and 2,601 people missing last 2011. And became the most costliest disaster in history.

It also been a decade since the tsunami in Aceh, on Sumatra island that left more than 170,000 people dead.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, "Tsunami waves are possible for coasts located within 300 kilometres,"

Reportedly, it was followed by several aftershocks that measured up to 5.8 magnitude, USGS said.

Even in the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and islands in the South Pacific were warned in a small tsunami waves.
